The Bug Bite Thing
Weird Purchases
Yes, I’m back on the weird purchases train again this week. But I don’t think anyone can top my boyfriend’s accidental weird purchase this week….one fork and one knife. In his defense, he thought he was purchasing a pack of each for us (we just need more than what we have). But he wasn’t, so now we have just an extra knife and fork until he orders more. It gave me a pretty good laugh though.
Bug Bite Thing
Seriously, that’s what it’s called, the Bug Bite Thing! The bugs are biting again and I can’t avoid them. But I heard about this little miracle tool and I had to try it. After you get the mosquito bite, you put this Bug Bite Thing on top of it and it suctions all of the venom out of it. It stops the bite from swelling and getting itchy! The only trick is that you can’t wait a full day to do it, then it doesn’t work. But if you do it right away, then it does! The Bug Bite Thing is definitely a game changer, so go get it!
A new desk set-up
I’m giving in. I need to change up my desk set up, especially since there’s a good chance I’m going to be working from home well into 2021. My desk already has an extra monitor on it and mouse, which is a god send, but now I’m adding a few extra things. To help with my posture, I’m adding this stand. Then, since you aren’t supposed to type on this stand, I also ordered this keyboard. I like that I’ll be able to tuck the keyboard under the stand, so it hopefully won’t take up as much room. Fingers crossed that it works!
My new granny look
Just continuing to give into my grandmillenial-ness. I’m giving in and getting a chain for my mask…or my sunglasses…or maybe both? I also ordered this new silk mask to help with my mask-ne…but more on that later.
What I’ve Been Reading
Reading
Holy reading, I can’t stop, won’t stop apparently. I don’t know if I’m hitting a stride of good ones or what. You can read what I read recently here (since I just published this post) and here’s my upcoming reads:

- Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory
- The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker
- Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
- Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
- All Adults Here by Emma Straub
- The Game by Linsey Miller
What I’ve Been Crafting
I’ve been talking about needlepoint for months, but I haven’t shown you anything I’ve been working on! Well I finally posted on my instagram pictures of the canvases I’ve completed. Only two have actually been “finished” so far (the term for when a needlepoint canvas has been framed or turned into something like a pillow, bag, belt, etc). For the rest, I’m either still deciding what I’m going to do with them or they’re presents, so they people I’m giving them to are still deciding what they want to do with them.
I have other canvases lined up to work on next, but I’m excited to refresh one of my old crafting loves, sewing. I’m getting my machine/my grandma’s machine that I inherited and I’m excited to use it to start some new projects on that as well. Plus I can use it to be able to finish needlepoint projects on my own! Combine with the cricut I talked about getting last week, my crafting brain is going into overdrive right now.
What I’m Watching
With the Boyfriend…
My boyfriend and I have the WORST time agreeing on what to watch. When we actually try to scroll and find something, it can take forever. And not in a fun way. The easiest way we’ve found shows to watch together has been when either one of us starts watching and the other starts paying attention and decides to join. Or when one of my boyfriend’s friends recommends a show to him that I wanted to watch. (That way is my favorite, it’s how I got him to watch Downton Abbey.) We just finished watching Perry Mason and we’re currently making our way through Broadchurch. Since we also had success with Sherlock and he can manage when I watch Grantchester, I think our sweet spot may be mystery/crime shows, especially if they’re British. So any recommendations in that area are much appreciated!
On my own…
I just finished all of Selling Sunset and oh my god, I need someone to discuss this show with. I forced my boyfriend to listen to me rant yesterday because I needed to get it all out. How can Davina lack so much self-awareness? And how did we all not know that Justin Hartley is actually the worst? Poor Chrishell. Also, I never thought my opinion of Heather would flip so much, but apparently it did and I love her now.
In other Netflix reality news, I watched Indian Matchmaking and I really liked it, but I disliked the lack of resolution about a lot of the people on the show. Was that just their way of avoiding the fact that none of them found a match during the eight months they were filming? There’s a reunion on Youtube, so I’m going to go watch that and find out. I’m also planning on listening to Kate Kennedy’s interview with Aparna because by the end, I actually loved Aparna. I think that her “character” as portrayed by the show might have just been a result of Indian Matchmaking producer’s and editors. Otherwise, who isn’t for a woman who knows what she does and doesn’t like?!
Other shows I’m watching to keep me happy? Extra Sugar Rush (I love my reality baking shows), a fascinating documentary about American Millionaire Princesses (I could talk for hours about this multiple part documentary from the Smithsonian), Brooklyn 99, Real Housewives of Potomac (they might be one of my new favorites), Below Deck Mediterranean, and rewatching Summer House (I miss Giggly Squad).
