Growing up in Wisconsin, I always figured that you could wear your jeans almost year round, except for a good three to four weeks during the summer. Once I moved to DC though, I realized that wasn’t the case. Yeah, you don’t wear jeans during a DC summer.
Everything changed this year though. Thanks to Everlane, my clothing savior, I officially can wear jeans this summer.

The Best Women’s Summer Jeans
Did you know that summer jeans are a thing?! Apparently I’ve been living under a rock because I had no idea.
What are summer jeans?
Summer jeans are jeans created out of a more lightweight denim fabric. They also tend to have a cut similar to a boyfriend or straight leg jean. This combination allows the fabric to really breath and you don’t feel so hot and restricted in your pants. Also, your jeans can be full length, but I feel like I’ve seen more cropped versions.
How do you style them?
Cuffed
I love wearing these cuffed. I think they give them a more laid back look. Plus, since I’m short, I feel like when I wear them longer, it just makes me look stumpy.
Tops
I have a few favorite ways to style these pants. First, the button up top. I tie it in a knot to make it look a little more casual or just a front tuck. Next, a tank top for the really casual day. I’ll typically go for a looser top like I’ve styled here, but if I go for something a little tighter, I’ll try to tuck it in. These jeans are the perfect way to start pulling back out all of my cute tops. Finally, these pants are the way to incorporate all of my favorite crew neck sweatshirts. Again, perfectly casual and laid back.
Sandals
I’m all about sandals right now (duh, it’s summer). The only rule I try to follow in this case is to try to avoid flat sandals with an ankle strap. Why? Well as I’ve mentioned in my post about how to make your legs look longer, ankle straps can sometimes cut off your ankle and make you look shorter. Since these pants are already cropped, I want to do whatever I can to keep my leg line still going.
Now, I may make an exception if I’m wearing heels with a strap, but if I’m wearing flats, I’m going to try to avoid a strap.
