The sun is setting on summer (yeah, I said it), and it’s time for the August 2018 Reading List! Read on to see what’s on my list this month.
August 2018 Reading List
The Book of Essie by Meghan MacLean Weir
I meant to make this my Book of the Month last month and then didn’t (I have no idea why). Luckily, I scooped it up and I’m so glad I did! This book was so good. It’s a twisted look behind the scenes of a Christian family’s reality TV show and what can happen when the family spends too long in the limelight. It’s smart and kept me gripped until the very end.
Bad Blood by John Carreyrou
Whoa. Also, oh my god. This book deserves a full review and I’m giving it one next/this coming weekend. But you have to read this book. Better yet, listen to it on audio. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Providence by Caroline Kepnes
I can’t decide how I feel about this one. I think I may have been much more into it had I been a H.P. Lovecraft fan, but I didn’t know that going into it. The story was definitely interesting, though I went in and out of it depending on who was telling the story. One of the aspects I loved was switching perspectives between the three main characters to allow them to tell the different sides of the story.
A Million Junes by Emily Henry
This was a story with a little bit of magic of magic to it. I loved the magical aspect, but I think I was rushing through this book too much to appreciate it. I think I’ll need to go back and reread it to really enjoy it.
Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West
This book was definitely an improvement to the last book I read by Kasie West. But, it’s not really not good enough that I would recommend it. If you need a break from serious reading maybe, but I would have a bunch of other things that I would recommend first.
Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
This one was actually just a fun re-read for me. Check out my original review here!
Snow Falling by Jane Gloriana Villanueva
If you watch Jane the Virgin (or at least the first few seasons of Jane the Virgin), you’re going to love this book. If you didn’t, then this book will probably be meh for you.
When It’s Real by Erin Watt
When It’s Real was definitely not as salacious as the last series I read by Erin Watt, but it was a fun and easy read. That’s why I picked it as a fun beach read.
Charlotte Walsh Likes To Win by Jo Piazza
I loved this one! Check out my full review.
Save the Date by Morgan Matson
This one was so much fun and gave me so many Cheaper by the Dozen vibes! Add it to your list.
The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand
I think this is my second Elin Hilderbrand book and I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to dive into these books?! I loved this one and now I need to go read more of them. Oddly enough, these books also really made me want to go take a beach vacation.
Royals by Rachel Hawkins
I said this in my YA Beach Reads post, but this is like the pre-teens version of The Royal We. If someone just isn’t old enough for The Royal We, Royals is a great pre-read for them. It’s super cute and great for someone who loves the royals!
What are you reading right now? What are you planning on reading next?
