Olivia & June Nail Polish

Weird Purchases

Olivia & June Nail Polish

I’ve decided that it’s time that I use all of this free time to start painting my nails. Or really rather learn how to paint my own nails well. I’m just so jealous of those girls who can sit on the couch and perfectly paint their nails in five minutes flat.

I don’t know why I didn’t start practicing this earlier in quarantine, but I’ve taken it on now and my first paint job went fairly well! No, I’m not doing full on manicures for these, just basic nail painting, but it doesn’t look terrible. In the spirit of looking for more clean products, I picked up some of Olivia & June nail polish during an online Target order. This Olivia & June color looks great and it seems to be holding up pretty well so far. I did forget to use the Sally Hansen protectors I bought earlier, but I think they may be good for next time, since I suck at painting with my non-dominant hand. (I’m also going to try to use this little tool from Olivia & June to help me out!)

My Gallon Water Jug

Did I talk about this last time? I have no idea, I could check but whatever. I’m still obsessed with it. Thanks to my water bottle I’m drinking so much more water. Can I start telling you about how I feel so much better and my skin is clearer? Umm, not really, but I’m definitely less dehydrated, which is great.

Silk Scrunchies

I got these months ago, but I guess I’m going to talk about them now. I’ve been wearing them in my hair at night and into the day as well. They feel so much better in my hair and my hair definitely looks much better in the morning.

A Mask for Walks

I’ve been wearing my regular masks on my longer walks and it has not been great. With how hot and humid it’s been in DC, it gets so gross and sweaty, it’s just disgusting. Since I’m not going to stop wearing a mask, I decided to look into what runners were buying and I found my solution. This mask from Target has actually been a pretty good solution. It’s lighter in the hot weather and easier to wear. The only downside is that I think my head is a little too small for it? I’ve had to pull it up pretty high to get it to stay on, which is a little uncomfortable, but whatever, it’s a much better solution than anything else.

What I’ve Been Reading

The Switch by Beth O’Leary

Note: I received this audiobook as an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Switch is one of the best kinds of books. Why? Reading this book just makes you feel good the entire time. Even when something is going wrong, the book just warms you up and you know that everything will turn out okay, if not better than before in the end.

The Switch focuses on Eileen and Eileen, a grandmother and granddaughter who decided that they both need to take a little break from their own lives. So Leena (the granddaughter), will take two months in Yorkshire, while her grandmother goes on a London adventure. Except neither know exactly what their about to be up against.

Each place has their own group of lovable characters and a small world that you just want to continue to live inside. The audiobook makes it even better with the two narrators for Eileen and Leena and the added elements brought in for voicemails (you really feel like you’re sneaking into someone’s voicemail). This book (and audiobook) isn’t out until August 18th, but I highly suggest pre-ordering it as soon as possible!

What I’ve Been Cooking

I’ve expanded my recipes! Finally. I saw how easy this chicken and sweet potato burger recipe was and I knew I had to try it. It was absolutely delicious. So good and easy, and I will definitely be repeating it.

Then, after seeing this blueberry and lemon loaf on Mary Orton’s instagram, I couldn’t resist. Oh my god guys, it was so good. I left out the thyme, but that didn’t matter, it was so good regardless. I would eat this loaf all day if I could.

Next up will probably be these meatballs, this tortellini, or just something caprese based. If you have recipe recommendations, please leave them in the comments!

What I’m Watching

The Babysitter’s Club

Of course I didn’t miss this! I was a huge Babysitters Club fan growing up, so there was no way I was missing this. The show was so adorable and wholesome, you need to watch it asap if you haven’t yet.

Otherwise, I haven’t started anything else new yet. I’m still making my way through Grantchester and Victoria. I’m also rewatching Parks and Rec and Brooklyn 99. I’ve also been debating restarting my AppleTV subscription so I can watch Defending Jacob. Has anyone watching it? Is it worth it?
