It’s All About the Bodysuit (and Why You Need to Wear Bodysuits)

Sooooo I had just typed this entire post out and then my laptop battery died and the entire post disappeared. Whoops. Also, very annoying. But let’s try this again, shall we?

I have this love of bodysuits that’s just been building over the past two years. I’ve realized how amazing and useful they can be, but in talking to people, I’ve also noticed that a lot of people are still pretty iffy about them.

So I thought today would be a good time to breakdown why bodysuits are wonderful and why it’s time for you to pick one up for yourself.

Why You Need to Wear Bodysuits

So let’s get into why you need to stop drinking the bodysuit haterade and start drinking the bodysuit kool-aide. Trust me, once you’re on board, you’ll realize how amazing it is. (Side story: Years ago made a joke to my friend about how much I loved my job and had totally drank the kool-aide. My friend thought I meant that the company actually had their own line of kool-aide.)

Nothing Comes Untucked

This is the number one best part about bodysuits: you never need to worry about your top coming untucked. It’s amazing. I have a button up bodysuit (it’s pictured below) and it’s so nice to know that I never have to worry about it coming untucked throughout the work day.

This is also really nice for work outfits because in the last few years they’ve been making more and more bodysuits that are work appropriate. Nope, not all bodysuits look like ballerina unitards. I have a nice button up and a faux wrap top. I’ve also seen cute, flowy camisole tops that would pair perfectly with pencil tops.

Smooth Line

Since your top isn’t going to come untucked, you also don’t have to worry about your top getting billowy or bunched up around your waist. It’ll just be a straight, smooth line all the way down. Do you know how hard that is to achieve with a normal top? Nearly impossible!

Easy Layering

When a top is laying flat, you know what else becomes easier? Layering! Bodysuits were made for layering. You can layering them under sweaters, cardigans, or blazers.

I love wearing bodysuits under my sweaters with open backs. That way I still have an extra layer, but I still have the full effect of the sweater.

Less Garments to Wash!

Alright, let’s get a little personal with this one. So first, if you buy a good bodysuit, then the bottom of the bodysuit will have snaps to make your life much easier. Now, that might sound uncomfortable, but trust me, you won’t be able to feel the snaps (your bodysuit will probably be lined). You’ll also really appreciate the snaps when you really gotta go.

Let’s get to the less garments to wash part. This part is definitely a personal preference. There are some bodysuits that are fitted enough that you can go without a bra or underwear. It’s great (just fyi, if I do, I use these just in case it gets a little chilly). You obviously don’t have to do that though, I’ve worn both with all of my bodysuits. There are also some bodysuits that I have to wear bras with, like my button up. Also, if I’m wearing one to work, I definitely wear a bra.

But, that all being said, bodysuits are a great option for packing, especially since it can cut down on the number of garments you bring.
