2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

This is not how I was planning on doing my post for the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I was going to do one post of outfit try-ons and call it a day. That was it. But like the rest of 2020, nothing seems to go how we plan.

Last week when I got access to the sale (here is the calendar for how people get access), I logged on to the site and put everything on my wishlist into my cart. When I went to check out, I got a nice red alert on the site. Why? Well apparently my Nordstrom card expired in May and since I haven’t made any purchases on there since April I haven’t noticed.

But Dana, didn’t you get a new card in the mail? Uhhh nope. And since I didn’t realize my card had expired, I didn’t look for one or call Nordstrom about it until last week.

So no try on post. Many apologies. Instead I’m going to share some of my favorites from this years sale and what I’m actually planning on getting.

What I’m actually looking at in the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I talked about this in my July 2020 Budget post, but my shopping is in a weird standstill right now. Since I’m going to be spending the next few months primarily working from home, I know that I don’t really have to worry about work clothes. Or replacing fall shoes (since most of mine have held up well from last year). So this year, I’m focusing primarily on workout clothes, underwear, loungewear, and a few fun extras.

Activewear

This is really more of a Zella appreciation post than just a general activewear post. But I absolutely love Zella’s workout clothing and now is the perfect time to out pieces. I’ve been told that the joggers are amazing, so I’m definitely going to pick up a pair for myself. Especially since joggers have become a big part of my life this year.

If you could only pick out one item though, I would say go for the 7/8s leggings (number five). They fit perfectly and the addition of the pockets are a game changer.

Bras and Underwear

I haven’t wore a wire bra (with the exception of strapless bras) since March and I have no regrets. Wireless bras and bralettes are my new favorite thing and they are so comfortable. I’m not the only person who has discovered this though, so A LOT of these bras have already gone out of stock. But, I have faith that they’ll be restocked, so just keep checking in until your size comes back.

Also, yes, I know that my lack of color is boring, but I don’t care. I need function when it comes to my underwear (and bras). It also just makes life a lot easier. For underwear, I selected two good no-show pairs that I have. Both of these are great if you want to avoid panty line, but you aren’t a thongs person. I will say though, that number four does not work well with jersey material. It’s great with everything else though.

Random Accessories and Pieces

As I said, there really aren’t a lot of clothing or shoes that I’m looking at this year, but there are a few odds and ends that I want to pick up as well. Cozy sweaters and comfortable joggers are an obvious investment, as well as light layers (like this cape scarf).

I have these Slip Silk Pillow Cases and they’re amazing. Besides being great for your hair and skin, they just feel amazing to sleep on.

This white blazer will look great on zoom calls, but it also has a more relaxed fit, so it’ll be super comfortable.

Finally, mules are my love language right now. This pair is just beautiful and I can’t resist!

Remember…

With how this sale is set up (people being “let in” at different times), restocks of products are happening ALL THE TIME. People are also returning things at all times. So if something you want is sold out right now, keep checking back in. Every time a new group of people are let in, there’s a good chance of a restock. So just keep checking and you might get the item you want!
