Oh boy. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us. The time when a lot of us hide for cover because a lot of posts from bloggers suddenly become centered around that. For them, it’s rightly so, because for a lot of bloggers, that’s the time when they can earn a bulk of their income. But in general, it can be exhausting. So I wanted to take a step back today and talk about why you’ll see less content from the sale on Something Good this year.

Why I’m Taking a Step Back From The 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I decided to divide up my reasons into two categories: my personals reasons for not wanting to participate and why I thought it was better for my readers.
For Me (My Personal Reasons)
It’s Exhausting
Okay, this is such a cop out reason, but it’s the silliest, so we’re going to start with it first. Do you know how much work it actually is to do a post for the sale? Whether it’s a try on or just a round up, it’s time consuming. More time consuming than other posts, especially because there is SO MUCH product to go through. And knowing that I’m going to spend so much time on a post that no one really wants to read just seems silly and counterproductive.
There are only a few things I actually need
While I might shop the sale for myself, there are only actually a few things that I need and are therefore actually looking for. For instance, lightweight jeans, bras, and some new workout tops. THAT’S IT. Would I order more than that if I’m posting about it? Definitely. Should I? No.
I’m Trying to Shift My Shopping
I’ve been trying so hard to shift my shopping away from just buying everything to only buying things I absolutely 100% love, I’m replacing, or I need. I’ll focus on shopping for what I’m replacing, but that’s it.
I’m Trying to Save Money
Isn’t that everyone’s goal, really? But I really am trying here, so let’s not send a sale in to get me off track.
For You (My Readers)
But this blog is for you guys too and there are a lot of reasons revolving around you guys for why I’m going to limit down the content for the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
There’s already a lot of content out there
We talked about this already, but when everyone is talking about something, you don’t need another person shouting into the void. That’s how I feel about this sale. I’m happy to point you to some of my favorite bloggers who do an excellent job posting about it. But I don’t need to add to it.
It’s annoying
I know that when I’m going through my Feedly and I see 15 posts in a row about one topic, I get a little annoyed. I don’t want to annoy you too!
The prices and availability are unreliable
When it comes to sale pricing, here’s the biggest secret of them all, I’ve seen items from the sale go on sale for an even lower price at the end of August. And then even lower in November.
Now, there is the chance that something might sell out and never come back in stock again, so you’ll miss that price drop. But here’s the thing (and the other reason why I hate posting about the sale) it happens within the first day of the sale! And then items sell out and come back in stock over and over during the three week period. I hate to review this amazing skirt only to have it be sold out by the time I get my post up (or worse, by the time it arrives in the mail to me). This happens with so many items during the sale.
A lot of products are repeats
Yes, there are new things every year, but some of the brands have really popular items that they just repeat for the sale every year. Bobeau one button wraps, BP cardigans, leather leggings, just to name a few…
I have other content to share!
This is actually one of my biggest reasons (and maybe a little selfish on my part), I have other content to share! There are so many posts coming up that I’m excited about and I would much rather geek out about the Target Day sale with you. So let’s focus on some other fun things, okay?
But if you have questions about the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale…
I’m always here for you, obviously! I’ve shopped the sale enough times that I can answer questions. Just leave comments here, in my Friday night Links comments, or send me an email!
