Now that I’ve shared with you what I think are some of the best books to read when you’re traveling and audiobooks to listen to, I though I would share what books I’m planning on reading next. These would be the books I’m packing for my next trip, but it turns out I’m not traveling any time in the next few weeks!
I haven’t read most of these, but based on the descriptions, I think they’re going to be great reads for plane rides (fingers crossed).
Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips
I read this one, but I did not want to put it down while I was reading it. It’s a short-ish read, but read this with a lot of caution if you have a young kid.
Renegades (Renegades, #1) by Marissa Meyer
Renegades is one of the exceptions to the “haven’t read” part of this list. Thanks to some strict library due dates, I lugged the hardcover home (haven’t done that in a while). But it was worth it. I love Meyer’s Lunar Chronicle series and I already can’t wait for the next Renegades book.
The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
While I haven’t read The Shadow of the Wind, I read it’s sequel for book club. The sequel, The Angel’s Game, was so fascinating and so well written that I can’t help but want to read more of the series. I was told that you can read the books out of order, so I’m on the holds list for the first book of the series and I’m excited to read it.
Also, I have to add, my book club was trying to describe the genre this fell under and I think I’ve coined a new term: “angry fantasy.” When a book is clearly fantasy, but it’s too dark and angry, but you can’t call it science fiction. Another example: The Magicians (which would also be a great plane read).
The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
I’m in the middle of this book right now and it’s taking me on a multi-narrator multi-part multi-world war journey all over France. The first woman is a girl trying to find out what happened to her older cousin during World War Two. The second woman is a spy from World War One. I’m not done yet, so I don’t have an opinion yet, but it’s been interesting so far.
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Has anyone read this yet? I feel like I’ve seen it everywhere and heard it’s good. I haven’t heard what it’s about though. That hasn’t stopped me from reading a book before though and it won’t stop me now.
You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth by Jen Sincero
I’ve decided that 2018 is going to be my year, so I’m loading up on the best books and courses to put me in that mindset. This is one of the best books so far. I’m part way through on audio and I can already tell that when I’m done, I”m just going to start it again. Then I’m going to order a copy of the book. Then read it again. Sincero’s advice is practical, but also the ass-kicking that everyone needs.
So those are the books I’m packing for my next trip (if I was going on one). What books are you planning on bringing on yours?

You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth by Jen Sincero
I don’t branch out into nonfiction all that much, but I recently heard about Jen Sincero’s books and am curious! And I am hoping Eleanor Oliphant turns out to be great – I chose it as my Book-of-the-Month Club pick for December, so I’m awaiting its arrival to read and find out…
I haven’t read “You are a Badass” yet, but her money book is amazing! I also ended up loving Eleanor Oliphant. Have you gotten to read it yet?
