Note: Today’s post is done in collaboration with thredUP, but as always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Something Good.
We’ve made it past Thanksgiving. The next thing we need to dress for? The office party. These parties can range from a little potluck to a blow out off-site party.
For me, I work at a small nonprofit, so there will be no blow out party (which I’m personally okay with). I thought this year I would do two outfits in that vein then.
So I’m aiming for something a little more low key.

Think a holiday party that happens during the work day, or maybe at the end of the work day. You’ll probably still be wearing work attire, but you may want to be a little festive. Basically, you could probably get away with wearing this another day, sub out an accessory or two.
For me, that meant throwing in the red shoes to keep it a little more festive. You could also do a red skirt or something metallic. The key is to keep it to one item so you don’t look like a walking ornament.
Also, I know it can be really tempting this time of year to want to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe.
Trust me, I understand (see November Budget).
But that’s why I actually teamed up with thredUP on this post.
We wanted to show you how if you’re going to shop this season, why not shop secondhand to save money?
thredUP’s site actually makes it pleasurable to go through clothes and search for hidden treasures on the site. Plus, once I realized I could get Madewell and J.Crew pieces at clearance prices, I was super sold.
I got my entire outfit through thredUP and if you were watching on my Instagram stories, then you probably saw my happy dance when I found this skirt and these shoes. I loved these J.Crew Flare Skirts when they came out, but I was never able to get a pair in black. Thanks to thredUP, I found one in black AND green. These flats were also a J.Crew find that sold out on the J.Crew site before I even had a chance to consider them.
thredUP and I are going to help you save even more money though.
From now until the end of December, use the code DANA to get 50% off of your entire order.*
But it’s only good to the first 50 users, so act fast if you want the discount! (Trust me, you want it, and if you don’t use it, I will.)
Also, let me know if you want me to do a post about how I navigate around the thredUP site so I can find everything I want!
*This code is good for first time users. If you’re a returning customer, code WEHEARTYOU20 will give 20% off all orders for all customers.
On the same wavelength as always, I’ve got a lot of black + red flats outfits going on for holiday events around here too. I have that skirt in navy and am jealous you found it in your size on ThredUp in black (I have trouble finding many options in my size, I feel like, if I ever attempt to browse their site). This is super work-appropriate but still festive and fun, plus you can get tons of other use out of those pieces the rest of the year!
Anne, take my code and go on thredUP right now. I didn’t put it in the post, but when I was looking for this skirt, there were a whole handful of the J.Crew flare skirts! Go go go!
