Happy October!

Does anyone else feel like as soon as October hits, everyone starts getting the holidays on their mind? Not like, hard core putting up Christmas decorations. But you know, they start putting out the pumpkins for Halloween and colorful leaves and then next thing you know we’re talking Thanksgiving and buying presents.

Yeah, it can sneak up on a person really fast.

Which means that some of you have thought about buying presents, but have been trying to think as little as possible about the impact it’ll have on your wallet. I know, it sucks. You have so much fun with friends and family during the holidays and then it feels like you can never spend money ever again.

I feel you. And I want to help you.

I’d like like to declare October to be a No Shopping Month. I know, that sounds like zero fun. But hear me out. If we just take one month to focus on saving money and not spending it, we can go into the present buying season with a little extra cash to buy those presents (or a new outfit for your holiday party). We can come out of the holidays knowing that we won’t spending January and February digging ourselves out of a hole.

I’m calling it the No Shopping Month Challenge.

Over the month of October, I’m going to be posting savings tips here and on my facebook page. I’ll also add some savings tips to my bi-weekly newsletter, so you better get on that if you haven’t already (just hit the subscribe button at the top of this page).

And at the end of the month?

What will happen then? Well besides the extra dollar bills you’ll have, I have a fun surprise in store for you. It’s going to get you in even better shape for the holiday season so you can spend that money the right way. That’s all I’m going to say for now though.

So what do you say? Do you want to join me in not shopping this month? Do you think you can do it?
