Isn’t it weird how the clothes we thought we were completely over come back around again?
I mean, I know that’s fashion. Everything is cyclical and trends repeat themselves (like the 90s revival that we’re in right now). I love seeing how I’ll go back to a certain item, but it’ll be a little different the second time around.
Right now, it’s a denim skirt.
I remember my denim skirt from high school (that I totally wore during college). It had an unfinished hem (so many loose threads). There was a little tear above the right side and it was a medium wash. I remember wearing it with a sweater and tights in November and a polo and flip flops in the spring (it was The OC era, don’t judge).
But like all things, it ran it’s course.
The skirt ended up in one of my many donation/sell piles and disappeared from my life. I remember thinking that it was a little too short and just a little too inappropriate for me to wear it anymore. After that, I figured I wouldn’t need a denim skirt in my life anymore.
That brings us to now.
What goes around, comes around, right? Now, I kind of want to give denim skirts a second chance. But I don’t want to wear them the way I did in high school. Sorry, but this isn’t Laguna Beach (did anyone else love that show??). Now, I want them to look a little more grown up, a little more professional. I’m looking for a skirt with a darker wash and a little longer. Heck, I might even look for a high waisted denim skirt. I don’t think I want a pencil skirt, though I feel like I’m starting to describe one.
Anyways, I’ve expanded my search to a few more stores than I would usually look at and below is what I’ve found! I don’t know what I’m going to get, but let me know if you have any suggestions. Also, let me know what you think about denim skirts. Are you into them again? Were you ever into them?
