Remember how I talk about doing a closet clean every five seconds? One piece that escapes the cleanout every time is this yellow floral pencil skirt.

I bought this skirt during my first year or second year in DC. It was during my big Loft kick and I was just drawn to the color and print of the skirt. I wasn’t a yellow person then (and I’m still easing into it now), but I could already picture it with outfits.
It’s also been one of the few (non-striped) patterned pieces that has continued to survive in my wardrobe. I think part of the reason for that is because the pattern is apparently, but still abstract enough. The color is also subdue enough that it can go with multiple colors and flow easily into different seasons. It works whether it’s summer or fall.
This skirt has inspired me to try to branch out into a few more patterned pencil skirts. I’ve rounded up a few floral pencil skirts below that would be good options for the office.
What do you think? Do you like patterned skirts?
