Note: Today’s post is sponsored by U by Kotex Fitness but as always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Something Good!
After working at Pure Barre for the past two years (and also just being a person who’s done sports for most of her life), I have my gym bag must haves perfected. While my necessities for each activity tend to change, I’ve noticed that I always include these five things in my bag.
1. Hair Ties
You have no idea how many times I’ve been asked by someone at yoga, pure barre, etc. if I have an extra hair tie or not. Sometimes I do, but a lot of the time I only have the one I brought for myself! So make sure you have a few extra hair ties in your bag, whether they’re for yourself or your friend who forgot.
2. Deodorant/Antiperspirant
I hate smelling bad. End of story. I’ll also typically want to put deodorant on as soon as I’m done working out to avoid smelling worse.
3. Face Wipes
Face wipes are the double edge sword of your gym bag essentials. You can use them to take your makeup off before class and wipe off any sweat after class. I honestly end up carrying these even when I’m not going to the gym. Plus they help contribute to the avoiding smelling after class (see above).
4. Water bottle
Between my migraines and how hot it is in DC during the summer, I drink so much water! I have a huge tumbler on my desk at work, one in my house, and then I always have a mini water bottle in whatever bag I’m carrying with me. I finally bought a nice water bottle, but really anything works for the gym. You’re likely going to need it and you never know if the gym will have them or not. They might only have a water fountain and then you’re going to have to completely pause and walk away from your workout every time you need water.
5. Tampons/Pads
Okay, if you’re a boy, then this isn’t in your gym essentials, but if you’re a girl it is. And believe me, it sucks. (It’s the number 2 thing I’m asked for at the gym, after hair ties.) It’s made worse by the fact that so many brands of tampons and pads seem to be not active wear friendly.
Luckily, U by Kotex Fitness has realized that and came out with a new line of U by Kotex Fitness pads and tampons designed for exercise. They’re shaped to fit and flex with your body to help you keep comfortable during exercise. Because let’s be honest needing to leave your workout to go to the bathroom is much worse than needing to leave for water. Stick with the worry free protection (and visit your local Walgreens to purchase U by Kotex Fitness products and .
receive a $2 Ibotta coupon by simply using the app post purchase).
Are any of these must-haves in your gym bag? What do you always pack?
