First, this weekend. This year my parents decided to come visit me in DC for Thanksgiving and it was so much fun. They’ve both been to DC before so this was our chance to really focus in on getting to a few places and trying new things. First, on Thanksgiving Day we threw the turkey in the slow cooker in the morning and then headed to Mount Vernon. I’ve always wanted to visit there, but I hadn’t had the chance. We spent the morning exploring and wandering the grounds. It was so cool seeing this part of history that has been preserved for over 200 years.
We came back to my apartment in the early afternoon and spent the rest of the afternoon cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I don’t know what it was about this year’s dinner, but it was so so good. And it provided me with leftovers for days.
The rest of their trip was spent exploring neighborhoods, the Library of Congress (one of my favorite places in DC), and seeing a show at the Kennedy Center. It was one of the busiest weekends I’ve had in a while, but also so much fun.
Now, on to the outfit. I purchased this long sleeve peplum from Old Navy last month and it’s been one of my favorite purchases this year. It’s been great for dressing up an outfit just a little bit, but it’s also so comfortable. I thought it would make a really fun but simple outfit for a holiday party. I don’t know about you, but I’ve realized that as I’ve gotten older, parties have become a bit more relaxed. With that, so has the outfit requirements. This outfit would be perfect for any casual holiday party. Just dress up this top with a sparkly necklace and cute shoes and you’re good to go!

Great looking outfit all the way around. Your purse and shoes are so great looking.
Thank you!
So simple and cute – and will be copying soon since I also bought this one in black 🙂
Sounds like a great weekend! I’ve never been to Mount Vernon but might have to check it out next time I’m in the area…
Ummmm, does that mean you might be coming to the area soon? 🙂
We had a great time visiting DC and had an amazing time with Dana. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal (crockpots are great) and we were so full we didn’t eat dessert. The next morning we were surprised to find a breakfast quiche and cinnamon rolls waiting for us.
Thank you Dana !!!
Haha, thanks mom!
I just did one of the candlelight tours on Mount Vernon on Saturday! I can’t wait to come back and see more during the day on my next trip to DC.
Oooohhh! That sounds amazing!
