Ready for a little more Charleston? Nope? Well, um, then you should probably just scan the pictures and not the text because I’m sharing some of my favorite places that I went in Charleston during SBSCon!

As I might have mentioned, I actually decided to stay in Charleston for a few days after the conference to explore a little bit more. The boy flew down and joined me on Sunday so we could go on our mini Charleston adventure. While we didn’t get to go to every restaurant I wanted to visit (you can only eat so many times in one day–or at least that was what the boy told me), we certainly visited most of the attractions I wanted to see.

Restaurants and Bars:

The Hominy Grill. This restaurant popped up a lot when I was searching for places to go in Charleston, so we decided to visit it for Sunday brunch. While there was a little bit of a wait to get in, the restaurant made it the easiest wait. They had a walk up bar outside where you could order a drink and then a mini patio to sit and enjoy your drink while you waited for your table. Once we were seated, I had the most delicious peaches and blueberry pancakes while the boy enjoyed his “Dirty South” Biscuit and Grits, which were also equally delicious.

Pearlz Oyster. Guys, I tried oysters for the first time! While I’ve decided that oysters aren’t really my thing (I’m completely on board with mussels though), the crabcake sandwich I had was unbelievably delicious. The only down point for me was the corn fritters, which didn’t have very ,much corn in them. We also happened to show up during happy hour, so $3 beers it was!

Vendue Rooftop Bar. This place was so great that I ended up there twice! I went Saturday night with Katie, Lauren, Nikki, and Lindsay and then back on Sunday for their live music happy hour. The only food I ate was the nachos (which were delicious), but I also only heard great things about their mixed drinks.

The Blind Tiger. We ended up hear kind of oddly. Lindsay remembered visiting it on her last trip and that it had the prettiest patio, so she led us over there Saturday night. This bar was such a fun surprise, walking through it, it was very much your typical college bar, but then when you walk to the back patio, beautiful! They turned a ruined historic building into a beautiful patio that lived up to everything Lindsay told us about it.

Home Team BBQ. The boy and I visited this place on our trip to Sullivan’s Island and holy crap, this bbq was amazing. I probably could have sat there and eaten all day, the food was that good. I basically ended up eating as much as my stomach would possible let me.

Places to visit:

The Belmond Charleston Place. This was the hotel that I stayed in during SBSCon and this hotel was gorgeous. Not only was the staff amazing and accommodating, but our room was beautiful. The hotel also had a small shopping area and was located perfectly in downtown Charleston. Even if you aren’t staying there, I would highly suggest walking around the lobby and checking out the Charleston Palm and Grill.

Waterfront Park. If it hadn’t been on the verge of training, I probably could have stayed here all day. There was a long dock that the boy and I walked out on to to watch the thunderstorm on another island and the boats. We also then wandered down to the two different fountains in the park. The first had kids running through the water, and I have to say, I was really tempted to run through myself. When we walked down to the second, I couldn’t help myself and had to jump in to cool down.

Rainbow Row. Home of the prettiest houses and bloggers favorite photography spot. I couldn’t resist the pull of the houses either and in addition to taking a million pictures, I even had the boy drive back over here with me to take these outfit pictures.

Sullivan’s Island. One of the things I wanted to do during my extended stay in Charleston was to go to the beach. Since the uber ride would have been a little too costly, the boy and I rented a car to drive over to one. We first attempted to go to Folly Beach, but the main road to get there was shut down. Since the only other way to get to Folly Beach was by ferry, we decided to drive over to Sullivan’s Island. Not much to say, other than I loved the beach and we spent all of Monday afternoon there. That was also where we found Home Team BBQ!
