10 Dorm Room Essentials with Kleenex

I’ve been visiting home for the past few days and the other night I was talking with a girl I use to babysit. In between stories of all of the tricky things she use to try while I baby sat for her, we discussed her plans for this upcoming school year. Since she is heading off to college this year (#Imold), I decided to put a post together for her about dorm room essentials. Even through I haven’t lived in a dorm room in a while, I love looking at all of the back to school displays that pop up every August!
Decorating your dorm room is an important part of college life since this will become your safe haven, place to study, hang out, eat dinner, and sleep! It’s important that you pick out pieces that not only reflect your style (and your roommate’s!), but also will allow you to focus when you need to study.

Here are my Top 10 Dorm Room Essentials for any student:

(PS everything in the collage is from Walmart!)

1. Fun Bedding: If you’re like me, you’ll use the same bedding for a while, so make sure that you pick bedding with a fun, but classic style!

2. Laptop: Essential to studying and getting your work done. I got a plain back one when I was in school, but I definitely would have picked a fun pink one like this if I had had an option.
3. Rolling drawers: I never felt like I had enough storage or drawer space, so these containers were an amazing alternative for storing random items and clothing. Plus, when I needed to move, everything in it was already packed up!

4. Carpet: While I had carpeting in my first dorm room, that was the first and last time I saw carpeting in my dorm. Buying a rug was an excellent alternative to having cold, hard floors and it helped to brighten up the space.

5. Tower fan: Much like the carpeting, A/C disappeared after the first year also. Fans are a must for keeping your room cool, especially if you’re there during the summer.

6. Mini Fridge: Want to eat healthy? Having a mini fridge to store fresh fruits and veggies will help encourage you to continue eating healthy.

7. Desk Chair: You may not need this, but I loved having extra seating available in my room. Plus, this chair was much more comfortable then the chair that was given to me!

8. Noise Cancelling Headphones: Be respectful of the fact that this is your roommate’s space too and be willing to wear headphones whenever you want to listen to something. Also, if you get a pair of noise cancelling, they can then be helpful if you need a little peace and quiet from your roommate.

9. Desk Lamp: Your room will never have enough lighting!

10. Kleenex Expressions Oval Facial Tissue: Trust me, you don’t want to go to the communal bathroom every time you need a tissue. These Kleenex boxes are not only perfect for fitting into smaller spaces, but their fun designs help to brighten up a room! Kleenex Chevron designs are part of a limited Back to School edition with Walmart, so visit Walmart to buy your own college pack now!
